How much spark advance is too much. Re: Trac Control Spark Retard - Too Much ?? Thanks Chris, I have been running a tune built by "Chipmaster" from Perth WA for the last 12 months and it had the tqx values "zeroed-out" and subsequently was reliant on the relaxer alone. Start by finding out how much timing advance your car likes and then have the distributor recurved to get the rate of advance correct for your engine. Your ignition advance will fluctuate, even at idle, because engine speed is not constant (which is due to the fact that combustion is never consistent or perfect) and because the time it takes for spark plugs to arc is more or less constant and predictable. Jun 30, 2010 · It's an adjustable vacuum advance can for the GM HEI that allows infinite adjustment to BOTH the amount and rate of advance. Mar 7, 2011 · With the 16L slot in use you have 32 degrees of advance in the distributor and that doesn't leave enough for more than 2 - 4 degrees of initial advance which is not enough. Sep 1, 2017 · In a spark ignition internal combustion engine, the purpose of advancing the timing of the engine spark is to get past ignition delay. If the spark advance is set too low, the combustion process may not be fully completed, leading to reduced power and fuel efficiency. Overly advanced ignition timing sets the burn off too soon allowing pressure to increase too quickly. Apr 27, 2022 · Advanced timing is okay but if it becomes too much, then this can hurt your engine. All Anons will be allowed to submit notable buns and only full buns will be accepted.
